These tips are things I did myself to work on my French when I was a student. I hope they can help you too ☺ Post-its for household vocabulary Self-explanatory. This is good for beginners specially and pre-intermediates. It'll help any level really, because sometimes we don't learn every-day English, we learn it in school or to discuss certain subjects, so this can help you learn those everyday words, useful when going on vacation and booking a hotel for example. → Put the names of things, the simplest things, on them. Perfect English Grammar - Check out their "explanations" and "exercises" sections English Grammar - Also Grammar based but some worksheets seem to have topics like "school trip" or "Gandhi" Cambridge English - They have free interactive lessons with activities based on level and skill (reading, pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary...) British Council - Go to the "skills" label, great resources to be found! Elllo - Both sites have comprehension quizzes after reading and listening exercises. And if you write anything (even for Cambridge online), don't hesitate to send it to me via my email, and I can correct it for you and maybe explain my corrections a bit when we see each other in class. BBC Learning English I'm going to keep adding to the list so check back every now and then. I need you to comment below your thoughts on the ones you try, and suggest others you find and recommend.

The verb SUCCEED (réussir à faire)

Because in French we say "réussir à faire" and "réussir" = "succeed", I hear a lot of people translate that expression to "I succeeded to do". But actually there's a nuance. First of all, "succeed to do" is grammatically wrong, because "suceed" is followed by the preposition "in" and then by a gerund ("ing"), so you would have to say "succeed in doing". That's for the grammar, now for the nuance. If you pay attention, you'll see that this expression isn't that used in English by natives, and we often use "manage to" instead, for example: I managed to do my homework all by myself Did you manage to finish the exercise? There was a lot of traffic, but I managed to get to the meeting on time. First, "succeed in" is a slightly more formal alternative to "manage to".
