Kahoot

Do you know Kahoot?

My university students love when we use it in class, and the thing is, it has some channels where you can play and learn on your own.

What is Kahoot?

Kahoot is a quiz site, you can do quizzes to learn a variety of subjects. It can be a little competitive which makes it fun.

You can share a quiz (or even create your own!) with your classmates or English learning friends (why not start a Whatsapp, Treebal* or Signal group?) and see who gets the best score.

Here are some channels that might be interesting:

  • BBC Learning: It's not about learning English, but different topics, which can help improve your vocabulary and knowledge about life all around you. You can subscribe to the channel for 5€/month BUT you can also use some of their FREE resources → "Try for free Get started with free resources" Maybe best for ambitious A2B1s and B1+ in general.
  • English for all Levels: Again, you can subscribe to this channel for a monthly fee, but you can also use some of their FREE resources. If ever you don't understand something (especially grammar), like if you don't know why your answer was wrong, don't hesitate to bring the question to me in class!

Try Kahoot and comment below what you think of it. What was your experience like? Did you find any other channels/collections that you recommend?

There are other quiz sites also out there:

As well as convenient apps to help you learn and that are fully customizable, like Anki-based apps (AnkiDroid Flashcards for example). Anki is a free flashcard program. It uses cognitive science to aid memorization. It basically uses an algorithm based on your answers to help you remember the words you have most difficulty with. You can create your own deck (=set of cards) using words you're trying to learn.

Comment below, what other sites have you found that you recommend? Which of these do you prefer?
