Some "frenchisms" that we don't say in English:

 I'll keep updating this list. Feel free to comment some you've discovered too, or would like to know.

  • "Take some news" → Catch up / Check in on someone
  • "Make sport" → Exercise / work out.
  • "Sorry for my late" → Sorry I'm late
  • "Make a point" → talk about / touch (on) the subject .. ('make a point' existe en anglais mais l'expression parle d'autre chose)
  • "I'm not sure to understand" → I'm not sure I understand
  • "I want that you come with me" → I want you to come with me. 
  • "I wait him" / "I wait they give me" → I'm waiting for him / I'm waiting for them to give me" (See Basic/Essential Grammar in Use, unit 52)
  • "I went to/in family." → I went to see my family. 
  • "Principally" → Mainly
  • "In mountain(s)" → In the mountains.
