Touristy vs Touristic

Many also mention that there seems to be a connotation for "touristy", making it sound a bit pejorative (attracting tourists). While touristic is a more neutral adjective relating simply to tourism.

Bear in mind that "touristic", although correct, feels old-fashioned to both British English and American English...

the adjective "touristic" is rarely used in British English either and sounds very weird. It's much more common to use the noun "tourist" to function as an adjective. For example you would talk about the "tourist industry" or a "tourist attraction". To my mind the word "touristy" has a definite negative connotation to it: I think it is generally used to refer to places that have been spoilt by tourism and it brings to mind beach resorts full of bad-taste gift shops and nightclubs.

So if you say "touristic" it will be correct, although it may sound weird to many native speakers (and is why I ended up looking for this info)
